Who doesn’t love a spot of shopping? If you love shopping and are planning a visit to Málaga, or if you live there, this article is for you. Málaga is one of the cities with the most shopping centres in Spain and is home to the world’s top brands.
Whilst it’s true that online shopping is very much in vogue at the moment, true shopping enthusiasts know that it’s not the same as doing it in-store. Yes, it’s very convenient to order from Zara or Amazon whilst sipping a coffee on the sofa at home, but there’s nothing quite like being able to try clothes on yourself, feel the fabrics and check the measurements in person. Online, everything looks great and the clothes seem to suit everyone, but then come the regrets when those baggy Shein trousers arrive. Shopping centres in Málaga
In the capital itself, there are already several shopping centres. As well as shopping, these centres offer a wide range of activities, such as cinemas, play areas, outdoor seating areas, restaurants, go-karting, and so on. This means that a day’s shopping can also turn into a family day out or a get-together with friends.
If you’re looking for somewhere where you can not only go shopping but also have a great time with your family and friends, then the Miramar shopping centre in Fuengirola is the place for you. It boasts a wide range of shops, a cinema and, on the terrace, a play area with trampolines, go-karting and other activities where the children will have a brilliant time. The shops you’ll find here include Zara, Bershka, Pull and Beard, Stradivarius, Primark, Carrefour, and more…
On the other hand, if you’re looking for more exclusive shops, you should head to La Cañada Shopping in Marbella. This shopping centre is home to the best brands, such as GUESS, Apple, Massimo Dutti, MAC, Lacoste… Shopping at La Cañada is like shopping on Fifth Avenue, but with a »Marbella lady» twist.
If you’re in Málaga and don’t feel like travelling, don’t worry! We’ve got a solution for everything. Right here in the city, you’ve got the Larios, Vialia and Muelle Uno shopping centres. These three shopping centres are very similar to the Miramar in Fuengirola – that is to say, the shops are very similar, but they don’t offer as many activities as the one in Fuengirola. Oh! Shops in Málaga
Shopping centres can be stressful and aren’t for everyone, but that’s no problem – you can also go shopping in the streets of Málaga, where you’ll discover local shops that you won’t find in a shopping centre.
The best place for outdoor shopping is undoubtedly the famous Marqués de Larios Street. This street is lined with all sorts of shops, from second-hand shops to Victoria's Secret, Bershka and Pull and Beard. As you wander from one shop to the next, you can also admire the beautiful architecture and Málaga Cathedral.
Running parallel to Calle Larios is Calle Nueva, which is very similar to Calle Larios, although narrower; it also boasts a wide range of shops of all kinds.
Second-hand shops
If you’re a fan of vintage and second-hand clothes, you’ll also find plenty of places to visit in Málaga.
There’s no doubt that if you like second-hand clothes, you should head to Flamingo. Here, you’ll find cool clothes in perfect condition. It’s more focused on vintage style, so if you’re looking for a colourful, old-school bomber jacket, you know where to go. And the fact that the price is calculated by weight makes it even better!
On the other hand, there is Mosaic, my favourite. You’ll find all kinds of clothes, and all brands, from vintage to Motomami jackets. The best thing is the price – for several days, they sell all the clothes for 3, 2 and 1 euro. Imagine buying a pair of Balenciaga trainers for 1 euro – it’s mad.
You can also find thousands of street markets across the whole province. With all sorts of goods on offer, you’ll discover things you never even knew existed. The Saturday morning flea market in Fuengirola is very popular in this region.
